Flooding & Drainage Consultant
Bruce Withnall
Technical Director
Bruce is a Technical Director with 40 years’ experience designing innovative flooding and drainage solutions for major motorway, rail, highway, and arterial road projects across Australia and overseas. This has included detailed design of flood control and drainage structures including levees, culverts, channels, retarding basins, water quality structures, stream diversions and road/rail drainage systems for numerous major infrastructure projects. He has also been extensively involved with the investigations and documentation supporting the environmental process. This experience has enabled him to fully understand and appreciate the importance of good design development to ensure ease of Planning Approvals (REF/EIS), and the interaction between hydrologic and hydraulic considerations with transverse and bridge waterway requirements to minimise flood impacts for surrounding areas.

Supplementing the design experience, Bruce has also led numerous design flood and floodplain management studies, investigations and urban drainage strategies developing considerable flood modelling experience (1D/2D). He has actively participated in community consultation processes dealing with key stakeholders and local landholders to address general concerns and specific problems or issues.
